Michael Reed

Rev. Michael Reed is the Executive Director of Massachusetts Interfaith Power & Light, where he leads our statewide efforts to equip and mobilize faith communities in the pursuit of climate justice and environmental sustainability in their local houses of worship. An ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church with fifteen years of experience in nonprofit leadership, Michael is committed to interfaith collaboration and mission-driven action rooted in authentic spiritual conviction. In 2025, he was named an Interfaith Innovation Fellow with Interfaith America.

Before joining MassIPL, Michael served as Associate Executive Director at Rolling Ridge Retreat and Conference Center in North Andover, MA, where he helped revitalize the organization's public presence and outreach, and launch new initiatives related to communication, fundraising, and environmental education.

He was also the founding director of The Maker's Place, a diaper bank and community resource center in Trenton, NJ, where he built a network of more than a hundred houses of worship to support families with young children living in poverty, and saw how poverty, inequality, and climate change are intertwined, with the most vulnerable communities bearing the heaviest burdens.

Michael holds a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Master's in Theology from the University of Edinburgh. He believes that faith communities can—and must—speak with moral imagination and live out the courage of their convictions to confront the challenges we face and support the common good. He lives in Andover, MA, with his wife and their two young children.
